Chi Kung and Tai Chi introduction Episode 1 by Steve Blanes

This is the first in a series of FREE Tai Chi and Chi Kung classes you can do from home! For FREE! In this episode Steve talks about how to breath when you first wake up in the morning and right before you go to bed at night. Steve also shows some gentle movements once you get out of bed in the morning. These are very simple moves with no strain that should be easy for most to do with chronic pain.

Tai chi is an ancient Chinese martial art practiced with as much softness in the musculature as possible, as opposed to other “hard” martial arts such as taekwondo and kung fu which introduce tension to the muscles. The postures are performed in a smooth, fluid motion, and the movements look like martial arts done underwater or in slow motion.

Tai chi is often described as “meditation in motion,” but it might well be called “medication in motion.” There is growing evidence that this mind-body practice, which originated in China as a martial art, has value in treating or preventing many health problems. And you can get started even if you aren’t in top shape or the best of health.
