I am starting out this series with what might be the most important aspect of healing the body. Belief that you can heal the body! I bet you thought I was going to talk about food and exercise didn’t you? Ha ha! We will get to that later in another blog post 😉 Our beliefs can shape our reality literally. Now does this mean that if we just think we will get better we will get better? Of course not! As humans we have too many blocks and beliefs to heal instantaneously at this time. Let me explain where I am coming from.
When you were born you did not have any limited or defined belief systems. As you grew older you were programmed beliefs by your family, society, culture, and sometimes even religion. How does this coincide with illness and healing the body? Let me give you a experiential example of what I am talking about. I went to a doctor for several years when I was at my sickest like we all do. I was on a lot of medications and was getting worse and worse to the point I got up only to go to the bathroom, take a shower, and make some food once a day. I was basically bedridden 90% of the time. I had gained over 100 pounds and was developing heart disease and had developed type 2 diabetes. I would go to my doctor complaining about my deteriorating condition and she would always say. “Jennifer, you have a lifelong chronic illness. You are just going to have to learn to deal with it and live with it.” I am sure you have all heard this before or something similar if you have been to a medical doctor for your chronic illness and you accepted it to be the truth. Why not believe the doctor? He is the professional and we been told that doctors know best when it comes to our health. But do they in the West? Or are they making us the sickest population in the world?
Everything that you put a limited belief on is a block. This goes for any aspect in your life. If you believe you can not heal you will release all personal responsibility for the process of healing. You will give up. You will take your medications as prescribed and JUST DEAL WITH IT. If you believe you are destitute for a life of poverty and suffering you will continue in that belief without making changes in your life. You see this generation after generation in families because they all believe they can get out of the situation they are in. Beliefs are very powerful and do create our reality if we let them.
If you lived in a indigenous society did you know that fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and many other illnesses are considered a spiritual crisis? That people with these conditions and even what we call “mental conditions” here are considered to be healers that can connect to other dimensions and realms? Did you know that in these parts of the world these conditions go away with balancing of the bodies energies and they do not have to “learn to deal with it?” Of course that is just a “Belief” but that belief actually heals people! You see where I am going?
Physical ailments that fall under the category of “shaman sickness.”
In the indigenous cultures, shamans who have been called to service but haven’t yet said “yes” to the call often wind up struck with physical ailments. In modern culture, these shamanic sicknesses may fall into difficult to treat categories like chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, chronic Lyme disease, chronic pain disorders, and autoimmune disorders. Acceptance of the call to shamanic service often resolves the symptoms of shaman sickness. If you’re suffering from one of these illnesses, ask yourself, “Am I a shaman who hasn’t said yes to my calling yet?” Read more here if you feel this resonates with you. 10 signs you are a shaman and did not know it
Also many Doctors and healers in The East consider chronic illness very curable and the people in these regions believe they can heal because they are told they can! And they do! They rarely use pharmaceuticals to mask symptoms unless it is life or death. They find and deal with the underlying cause if it be spiritual, emotional, mental, or pathogenic (Viral, bacterial, or fungal) and heal the body and don’t use chemicals to mask symptoms which in the long run makes the physical body break down even more.
Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well.
So why are so many people chronically ill in The West with chronic conditions?
The physical body is not the only thing that needs to be healed when we have physical warnings (Pain) Coming from our body. We are not just physical and have a energy body that is very crucial for healing the physical. I will be talking more about the energy body in a future blog post as it deserves it’s own section for people to access on this site.
It is very important to remember that throughout history, the art of healing has been influenced by religion, politics, philosophies, and vested interests (money). The conflicts between alternative medicine and “western” medicine are nothing new. From traveling medicine shows to modern day hospitals, “western medicine” has always been based on pure science. Other methods such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, and aromatherapy have concentrated on healing the mind, body, and spirit as one entity. Hippocrates, a physician of Greece’s Golden Age, had one foot in scientific reason and the other in the power of natural healing. He believed that the task of the physician was to help the healing process along rather than to take it over. His beliefs continued until the 19th century (for 2,300) years.
So as we go along on this journey together please keep an open mind. I mean what do you have to lose? Although new information that is outside your belief system might feel uncomfortable at first it is crucial for any type of change to happen within your life. You can’t do the same things over and over again and expect a different result. That is considered insanity. I made this first installment of this blog series about belief for a VERY important reason. If you believe you can not heal your body and you are not flexible in those beliefs none of my future blog posts will be beneficial to you. So come with me, open your mind, and lets learn more about our bodies than modern medicine wants us to be aware of.
