Our bodies are amazing communicators and are designed to inform us with discomfort when something is off. This can be physically, mentally, spiritually, and/or emotionally. Because we are not just physical beings, when one of the other bodies is out of balance or lacking the body will cry out in physical pain.
A good example of this is someone with any type of abuse or trauma (Post traumatic stress disorder) developing chronic pain. Most people with chronic pain have some sort of suppression of feelings or emotions going on. Many people that have childhood abuse or neglect develop chronic pain. We live in a society were we distract ourselves and suppress pain and trapped emotions will cause the body to scream out it REAL PHYSICAL PAIN.
In America we have a medical system that does not address the emotional and mental aspects of illness or pain. It really is a shame because not dealing with the underlying cause of the pain breaks down the body so it does not work the way it was divinely designed to. Our bodies are amazing healing machines when we have the proper guidance and tools to heal ourselves. We are a pop a pill country that tries to mask pain instead of bring the emotional pain to to surface to be healed and when we are RXed drugs to mask or suppress the pain it causes the physical body to react more as a wake up call or warning signal to inform you something is off.
It is very important to remember that throughout history, the art of healing has been influenced by religion, politics, philosophies, and vested interests (money). The conflicts between alternative medicine and “western” medicine are nothing new. From traveling medicine shows to modern day hospitals, “western medicine” has always been based on pure science. Other methods such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, and aromatherapy have concentrated on healing the mind, body, and spirit as one entity. Hippocrates, a physician of Greece’s Golden Age, had one foot in scientific reason and the other in the power of natural healing. He believed that the task of the physician was to help the healing process along rather than to take it over. His beliefs continued until the 19th century (for 2,300) years.
My healing process made me look within myself and look at patterns and behaviors that were not healthy for my body as a whole. I was a huge people pleaser and always trying to make others happy at the expense of my own happiness. I would not vocalize my needs out of fear of rejection. I have had to learned that it is better to be rejected and know the truth about someone than hold on to anger and resentment because someone has no idea how you feel. If something is bothering me now or needs to be said I say it. It releases energy when you use your voice and vocalize your needs. Also I am a highly sensitive empath which means I feel other peoples energies (good and bad) and I was working at Disneyland for 10 years. To deal with all the people and their energy for my job I had to be on many medications that numbed my emotions. Because I numbed them and I did not deal with them my physical pain got worse and worse until I was so bad I was fired from my job because I could not function any longer.
Our enviroment plays a huge role in how we feel emotionally, mentally, and physically as well. If you are in a dysfunctional relationship that is toxic on any level (or just unhappy) it can manifest into physical pain. If you have a job you hate and you are in that emotional state of hating your job several hours a day your body will start crying out in pain. If you had prolonged stress as a child from physical or mental abuse and it is not dealt with you can developed physical pain and disEASE within the body.
So now knowing that your emotions can and will affect your physical body is there anything you can do to start healing? I always suggest to people to FEEL, DEAL, and, HEAL. If you have had significant trauma in your life and feel you can not release these emotions on your own I highly recommend seeing a trained professional to help you through this process. I personally know from my experience that the drugs they will try to RX you just mask the symptoms and prolong the process so if you are mentally stable enough to not take them it will make the process much quicker.
Finding the underlying cause of your pain is key to your healing process and no doctor is going to do that for you they are not trained to. You have to want to take control of your body and health and do it on your own. I can not predict what caused your pain because I am not you and we have lived very different experiences. This is your fight for your health. I can offer tools like this blog post and videos but you are the healer. You can heal yourself if that is what you want to do!
